PROTAC is a small-molecule drug composed of a binder that binds to the target protein (POI, Protein Of Interest), a binder that binds to the E3 ligase, and a linker that connects them. By this structure, the PROTAC molecule forms a complex with the target protein and E3 ligase, and is ubiquitinated by the E3-ligase, ultimately inducing the degradation of the target protein.
PROTAC used in this way has the advantage of being reused in the body after degradation, and can remove causes of disease at low doses.
